Although there are three media departments in Erbil and Suleimani universities, Halabja is deprived of media services because the city is far from those universities. As mentioned, Halabja city has seen many disasters but the lack of media coverage and public relations services have resulted in the negligence of the city, locally and internationally. Therefore, it is vital to establish the media department to produce professional journalists to do their work efficiently and responsibly. Especially, it is planned to open a parallel study in the evening classes which would open more opportunities for the journalists to benefit from the media studies.

Choosing the English language for this department is to help the student to catch as much as the newest research, books, and studies of media in the developed countries.
