Department of History

Description

History department is one of the oldest departments of the college. It opened in 2014. It has fourteen academic members, three professors, three assistant professors, four lecturers, and four assistant lecturers. Some of the academic staff are the founders of the university.

Department Vision

The History Department aims to make the students aware of the past through teaching, research and other activities in Kurdish, Islamic, European, history in the context of world history. Our aim is to teach students to think critically on history to address current problems based on historical thinking.

Department Mission

Understanding of the development of specific peoples and societies awareness of conflicting interpretations of the past.

Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcomes are:

  • Students will be fully familiar with Kurdish history in different periods.
  • Students will acquire multidimensional knowledge about the different components of Kurdish society throughout history.
  • Students will learn to reconstruct the past based on historical documents.
  • Students will be able to teach Kurdish history and the Middle Ages at secondary and high school levels.

Study Methods

The method of teaching is to give students a major role in studying by doing seminars, writing essays, and research which is part of the bologna process.

The main language in this department is Kurdish.

Duration

The duration of the study is 4 academic years.
